Instructions:

Discussion about personal values and the importance of choosing them in life. Man becomes a self-creating creature while making the choice between “Either-Or?” - wrote Kierkegaard, the founder of existentialism. Why is it so important to decide and choose in life? What happens if you do not pick anything?

1. Participants are asked to recall what life values they know.

2. Using the method of ‘brainstorming’, list values (at least 15) in a column on the board. It is important to emphasize to the participants that the list may contain the most diverse values (i.e. not necessarily those that are appreciated by the majority; for example, in the list may occur perhaps not quite openly declarable values, as money, power, sex, etc.).

3. The participants are handout 5 small sheets of paper.

4. Participants are asked to select 5 most important values from the list on the board and write them down by one on each individual 5 sheets of paper.

5. The participants are asked to pick out one of the 5 selected values that is least important to them.

6. The moderator collects the "thrown" values, reads them loudly and throws them into the trash bin.

7. The same action is repeated again until the last two most important values remain with the participants.

8. Participants are asked to present the remaining two values, to give arguments why they have kept them, and have rejected the others.

9. Finally, each participant has to choose one out of the two remaining values - which actually appears to be his / her most important value for the moment.
